If you are concerned as to access medical attention should you have a cold, or any other NON-URGENT medical concern, you have resources. Most under 65 Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC subscribers are being offered the resource of MDLIVE Telehealth Services.
Here's how to use this benefit effectively. FYI - Please realize you may need to wait longer than normal during these challenging times for a callback.
If you are a BCBSNC member you can call MDLIVE for NON-URGENT healthcare issues. Of course, if you are experiencing a health emergency, you should go to an in-network participating urgent care or hospital.
REGISTER FOR A MDLIVE ACCOUNT

You can go online to www.bcbsnc.com and login to Blue Connect and sign up online.
Sign up for the MDLIVE app on the Google Play Store or the Apple Store.
Member can call MDLIVE Care Coordination – The numbers I have received for CS are 888-657-9982 and 888-910-9722. PLEASE CHECK THE BACK OF YOUR BCBSNC member ID CARD to verify which number you should use.
PLEASE NOTE: You'll need your member ID card if registering on MDLIVE's website or by phone. Once your account is active, you may start using virtual visits right away. You may:

· View openings
· Schedule an appointment or meet with the next available doctor

HOW MUCH IS A VIRTUAL VISIT?
There's no charge to set up your account, but, depending on your benefits, you may need to pay for your visit. Check your benefit booklet for costs or call the Customer Service number shown on the back of your member ID card. MDLIVE accepts most major credit, debit, HSA and FSA cards. Due to the Pandemic, Blue Cross Blue Shield has announced that they will be enhancing coverage through MDLIVE. Here is the press release explaining the enhanced coverage available as of 3/17/2020. CAN MY CHILDREN USE MDLIVE?
Yes, children under the age of 18 may use MDLIVE with a parent or guardian present.
CAN A MDLIVE PHYSICIAN WRITE ME A PRESCRIPTIONS?
Yes, your prescriptions may be sent to a nearby pharmacy of your choice after your virtual visit (when appropriate). IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have prescription drug coverage through your plan, you may be able to use the same independently contracted pharmacy network that your carrier has negotiated discounts with.
MDLIVE does not guarantee that prescriptions will be written, and prescriptions are subject to state regulation. MDLIVE doctors reserve the right to deny care.
ARE VIRTUAL VISITS SAVE AND PRIVATE?
MDLIVE offers safe, secure and confidential medical advice and care. MDLIVE is compliant with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and will only share details with your chosen doctor and pharmacy.

* PLEASE NOTE that your BCBSNC healthcare plan prescription drug deductible and formulary tier copays MAY apply. If you enrolled in a HSA, you will pay the full cost of your medication until you meet your deductible.
